Traveling with musical instruments

Take your musical instrument with you in the cabin, as hand baggage or in an extra seat, or choose to send it to the aircraft's hold.

Musical instrument in the cabin

Musical instrument as free hand baggage

Musical instruments can be included in hand baggage accepted free of charge, as long as they comply with the limits permitted by TAP:

Weight and dimensions

Maximum weight: 10 kg / 22 lbs. Maximum dimensions: 55 x 40 x 25 cm / 22 x 16 x 10 in (height x length x width).

Please note that the number of items you can take with you depends on the fare you are traveling on, the destination of your flight and your TAP Miles&Go status.

Booking of seat for a large musical instrument

If your musical instrument does not meet the weight and size limits permitted for hand baggage, you can travel with it next to you in the aircraft cabin. To do this, you must reserve an extra seat to accommodate the instrument, complying with the following limits:

The booking of an extra seat in the cabin, for the transport of your musical instrument, can only be made through the TAP Contact Center, a TAP counter at the airport or a Travel Agency.
