Lyon, a city that breathes History and Future

There are a wide number of tourist attractions that you can't miss on this visit. The Basilica of Notre Dame de Fourvière is one of them. The "soul" of Lyon reigns over the hill of Fourvière and, in addition to magnificent, offers a privileged view of the city. Also unmissable are the Gallo-Roman Amphitheatre and the Museum of Archaeology, which invoke memories of a past in which Lyon was Lugdunum, capital of the Roman province of Gaul. 

In the so-called Old Town of Lyon, the picturesque streets of medieval times have not been designed for cars and, even today, walking, with the obligatory stops to take photographs, visits to shops and restaurants and cafés, is the way to get to know this part of the city.  

Museums, festivals, exhibitions, parks, gardens and cultural landmarks, in short, a number of activities are available in Lyon all year round, day or night, with sun or rain.

The confluence of the Saône and Rhône rivers and their multiple islands connected by bridges confirm Lyon as beautiful, as well as perfect for outdoor walks. More than the junction of two rivers, the merger is also of nature and urban modernity, of Past and of Future.


Silk, architecture and secret passages

It is in La Croix-Rousse that you can explore one of Lyon's most curious appanage. Strongly linked to the silk trade, especially since the 16th century, it was here that a large part of the workshops dedicated to this industry was found, which transformed Lyon into the Silk Capital of Europe.

Some are still working and can be visited, but what you can't ever miss are the traboules, ancient secret passages that cross the city between patios and buildings and that allowed the merchants to circulate with their valuable goods - the expensive silk - in secret, and at the same time, protected them from bad weather, which could damage the precious cargo.

With a rich Past, Lyon is also City of the Future
