Suspension of flights between Portugal and Angola

As of 00h/12 AM, January 24, 2021, and until further notice, flights from Portugal to Angola are suspended as per the determination of the Angolan Government.

Passengers with confirmed bookings from/to Angola as of the mentioned date, are advised not to go to the airports and contact TAP's Contact Center.

Travel ban from Brazil to Italy.

From January 16 to 31, there is a flight ban to direct flights from Brazil to Italy.

On the same dates, entry or transit in Italy is refused to any passengers that have been or transited thru Brazil.

Passengers with confirmed bookings on affected journeys are advised not to go to the airports and contact directly TAP Contact Center.

COVID TEST - Passengers traveling to Portugal

As per the directive of the Portuguese Government (Decree Law nº 666-B/2021, of January 14), entry into Portuguese territory is only authorized for:

  1. Passengers on flights from countries belonging to the European Union, countries associated with the Schengen Area (Liechtenstein, Norway, Iceland and Switzerland).
  2. Passengers on flights from countries whose epidemiological situation is in accordance with Council Recommendation (EU) 2020/2169, of December 17, 2020.
  3. Passengers on flights from countries that are not members of the European Union or that are not countries associated with the Schengen Area, exclusively for essential travel, thus:
    1. Citizens of the European Union, nationals of States associated with the Schengen Area and members of their families, in accordance to the Directive 2004/38 / EC, of the Parliament and of the Council, and third-country nationals legally resident in a Member State of the European Union;
    2. Third-country nationals traveling for professional, study, family reunion, health or humanitarian reasons.
  4. Passengers on repatriation or humanitarian flights organized in accordance with the law.

Passengers on flights described in sub paragraphs a) and b) are not required to submit a negative RT-PCR molecular test for COVID-19, performed within 72 hours prior to the flight.

COVID TEST WITH A NEGATIVE RESULT MANDATORY IN ORDER TO BOARD

All passengers (including Portuguese citizens, residing in Portugal and their families and passengers in transit) on the flights described in paragraphs c) and d) must present proof of laboratory testing (RT-PCR) for the screening of SARS-CoV-2, with a negative result, performed within 72 hours prior to the time of departure, or they will be denied boarding.

Important for passengers in transit:
All passengers on flights from countries that are not members of the European Union or that are not countries associated with the Schengen Area must present an RT-PCR test, with a negative result for Covid-19, including passengers in transit.

Exceptions to the rule of mandatory presentation of negative test results before boarding:

  • Children who have not completed 24 months of age. 

Flight ban from Portugal to the United Kingdom

From 4 AM, Friday, January 15, 2021, there is a flight ban determined by the  British Government, for direct flights from Portugal (including Azores and Madeira), Brazil, Argentina and Cape Verde.

As a result of this flight ban, TAP flights between Portugal and the United Kingdom will be cancelled. 

  • No flights from Lisbon or Porto to the United Kingdom will operate, until further notice;
  • Flights from the United Kingdom to Lisbon or Porto will not operate from 9AM, Friday, January 15, 2021, until further notice.


Passengers with confirmed bookings on affected flights are advised not to go to the airports and contact directly TAP Contact Center.

Additional, passengers who have been in or transited through Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia, Chile, Cape Verde, Colombia, Ecuador, French Guiana, Guyana, Paraguay, Panama, Portugal (including Madeira and the Azores), Peru, Suriname, Uruguay and Venezuela in the last 10 days will no longer be granted access to the United Kingdom.

Exception: British and Irish Nationals, or third country nationals with residence rights in the UK.

Travel restrictions and entry requirements

For some destinations it is mandatory that passengers complete an online form, prior to the flight, proof of which will need to be presented at control points upon arrival, verify below if this is needed in your case. For destinations that do not have an online form, passengers will be requested to fill out a form during the flight.

It is the passenger’s responsibility to comply with all government policies and entry requirements, for example the need to fill out forms and/or Covid-19 testing. Failure to do so may result in denied boarding for the flight or entry to the destination.

Please be aware that there are specific procedures for some destinations that can be verified hereAlways confirm information with official government agencies to ensure you are able to reach your destination.

Symptomatic passengers identified at the airport by public health authorities may be refused to continue their journey.

Mandatory use of face mask

Use of a face mask is mandatory on board all TAP flights. Therefore, all our passengers, aged over 6, must be equipped with one and guarantee that it is used during the entire duration of the journey.

The use of a face mask will only be exempted for passengers who are proven to have health problems that cannot use it. In these cases, prior to the flight and in order to travel, the passenger must have a medical authorization (MEDIF). Otherwise, boarding will be denied.

We also advise our passengers to inform themselves on specific regulations that may exist at their points of origin and destination, for example that fact that it is already compulsory at many airports to wear a face mask.

A causa dei limiti di spazio sui nostri aerei, informiamo i clienti che in alcuni periodi dell’anno l’acquisto di bagagli extra sarà limitato per i seguenti voli:

    • Estate – dal 13 giugno al 30 agosto 2020
    • Natale – dal 11 dicembre 2020 al 10 gennaio 2021*
    • Pasqua -  dal 19 marzo al 4 aprile 2021
  • Con partenza da Abidjan e Accra: 
    • Estate – dal 13 giugno al 13 settembre 2020
    • Capodanno – dal 26 dicembre 2020 al 10 gennaio 2021
    • Pasqua - dal 5 aprile 2021 al 12 aprile 2021
*Nota: La destinazione finale Bissau sarà anticipata per il periodo natalizio, con un embargo a partire dal 16 novembre 2020.

I viaggi con destinazione Abidjan, Accra, Bissau, Dakar, Praia, São Tomé e São Vicente e partenza da Abidjan, Accra e Lomé non consentono bagaglio in eccesso (peso e/o dimensioni) rispetto alla franchigia associata alla tariffa, acquisto di bagaglio extra, trasporto di animali, equipaggiamenti sportivi o strumenti musicali spediti in stiva. È consentito portare con sé unicamente il numero di bagagli indicato sul biglietto e per ogni bagaglio la somma delle tre dimensioni (altezza, larghezza, profondità) non deve superare i 158 cm e il peso massimo di 23kg in classe economica e di 32 kg in classe business.

Le limitazioni si applicano a tutti i biglietti, indipendentemente dal tipo di prodotto acquistato o dallo status di Frequent Flyer, a eccezione dei biglietti discount per i quali sarà possibile aggiungere un solo bagaglio.

Ci scusiamo per gli eventuali disagi che questa situazione potrebbe creare ai passeggeri.

Disinfettante per le mani a base di alcol.

La quantità netta totale di tutti gli articoli di questo tipo trasportati da ciascun passeggero non deve superare 2 kg o 2 l, mentre la quantità netta di ogni singolo articolo non deve superare 0,5 kg o 0,5 l.

È possibile portare il disinfettante per le mani a base di alcol nel bagaglio a mano o da stiva. Tuttavia si noti che i passeggeri che desiderano portare il disinfettante per le mani nel bagaglio a mano sono tenuti a rispettare il limite di 100 ml o equivalente per ogni articolo a base di liquidi e gel in conformità alle disposizioni sulla sicurezza aerea (se nessuna esenzione locale è stata definita dalle autorità competenti).

Si prega di tenere presente che, poiché tali articoli non sono stati approvati dal produttore dell'aeromobile, non devono essere utilizzati sull'equipaggiamento o sulle superfici dell'aeromobile stesso.
